Dr. Dhaniram Mandi Memorial Fellowship

Dr. Dhaniram Mandi was a doctor at the West Midnapur health center who had been murdered by the naxalites. In his memory Liver Foundation West Bengal had started this fellowship in 2009. This fellowship program aims to provide financial assistance to the talented students who want to pursue their career in the field of medicine but lacks proper financial support. The fellowship program was officially announced on 30th July 2009, wherein Padmasree Manna Dey was felicitated by Liver Foundation West Bengal. On that day the veteran singer Manna Dey released his music album Chorar Desher Chondya, the sale proceeds of which will go to the corpus fund of Liver Foundation West Bengal, specially created for its purpose of contributory social security. Sheik Asharul Hussain of Nadia District was awarded for 1st Dr. Dhaniram Mandi Memorial fellowship. Liver Foundation West Bengal had taken responsibility of the entire cost of his medical course from Kolkata Medical College. In 2010 Abu Raihan Mijanuddin of Birbhum Districe was awarded for 2nd Dr. Dhaniram Mandi Memorial fellowship. Mijanuddin pursued his medical course at Burdwan Medical College.
