Liver Foundation West Bengal is thrilled to celebrate its 18th Foundation Day on 30th June, 2024 at Ashutosh Birth Centenary Hall.

A heartfelt gathering was held at the IILDS Auditorium to honor the cherished memories of Roy Sir. Colleagues, students, and loved ones shared touching anecdotes, reflecting on his enduring impact as a mentor and guide. The event celebrated his kindness, wisdom, and dedication, accompanied by a photo slideshow and tributes that underscored his lasting legacy. Though he is deeply missed, his spirit lives on in the lessons and warmth he left behind.

Sharpening Aptitude for Hepatitis Research Program (SHARP) meeting on 19th and 20th April, 2024. Jointly organized by JCMLRI and Stravitz- Sanyal Institute for Liver & Metabolic Health, Virginia Commonwealth University in association with Indian National Association for Study of Liver (INASL) and ICMR. The event as organized at Taj Vivanta in Kolkata. Among the notable guests were Director of ICMR Dr. Rajiv Bahl and Consul General of American Consulate at Kolkata – Ms. Melinda Pavek. The SHARP Program aims to mentor upcoming hepatologists. More than 20 young Hepatologist from all over India joined the program. SHARP fellows have been meeting periodically since then.

Remembering COVID martyrs: A joint Program by Covid Care Network and Liver Foundation West Bengal on March 24, 2024 at Mohor Kunjo in Rabindra Sadan Area of Kolkata. The event attracted people from different spheres of Life. Some of the eminent personalities who graced the event were Director Gautam Ghose, Singer Indrani Sen, Ex Director of Health Sciences Dr. Ajay Chakraborty and others. Everyone recounted their personal ordeals and the beloved ones they lost during the COVID. A demand for a physical COVID memorial was raised from the platform.

9th IILDS Foundation Day was observed as Donor Appreciation Day on 27th February, 2024. The Donors, who had supported the IILDS from its nascent period were felicitated. A few donors shared their experiences of working with Liver Foundation West Bengal. An innovative memento was custom-prepared to mark their contribution on behalf of IILDS.

Public Health Festival was organized in Dayapur on 21st January, 2024 as the part of the project - Sustainable public health interventions through capacity building of local groups in remote islands of Sundarban tidal area. The Nursing students of Chandrakant Institute of Nursing and Health Sciences (CINHS) put up a nutrition display for the people coming to the festival. In addition, the members of newly trained Community Task Force displayed posters based upon their training. Dr. Abhijit Chowdhury addressed the attendees and talked about lifestyle affecting life. The festival attracted 250+ attendees.

২০১৮ সাল থেকে চলমান আন্তর্জালিক বিজ্ঞান দৈনিক পত্রিকা বিজ্ঞানভাষ (www.bigyanbhash.org) এর প্রথম মুদ্রিত সংকলন 'বার্ষিক সংখ্যা' হিসেবে প্রকাশিত হয়েছে ২৭ শে ডিসেম্বর, কলকাতা তথ্যকেন্দ্রে। ঐদিন কলকাতা তথ্যকেন্দ্রে একটি আলোচনা সভা হয়েছে। বিষয় - 'বাংলা ভাষায় বিজ্ঞান লেখার দ্বিধাদ্বন্দ্বের হিসেবনিকেশ' আলোচক - পলাশবরন পাল, পথিক গুহ এবং তুষার চক্রবর্তী। অনুষ্ঠানের সভামুখ্য পার্থপ্রতিম মজুমদার।

On 27th December, a discussion was organized on the topic – Understanding the dilemma of writing scientific literature in Bengali. The panellists were Mr. Palash Baran Pal, Mr. Pathik Guha and Mr. Tushar Chakraborty, and the session was moderated by Prof. Parthapratim Majumdar. The 1st Annual Printed version of the online magazine – Bigyanbhash – was inaugurated at the event

The“1st Kolkata Pancreas Meeting”, was held at Taj Talkutir, New Town, Kolkata, on 16 th and 17 th December, 2023. About 150 National and International delegates /Faculties joined the conference and exchanged ideas on the advancements of pancreatic care.

The event aimed to educate the public about the importance of liver health, preventive measures, and the global effort to combat hepatitis.

The Chandrakant Institute of Nursing & Health Sciences in Sonarpur was the stage for an impactful event on August 8, 2023. The event, organized by the Liver Foundation West Bengal, resonated with the theme "One Life, One Liver" to mark the significance of World Hepatitis Day 2023 and contribute to the ongoing Hepatitis Awareness Fortnight.

"Advancing the Frontiers" marked the formal collaboration between Virginia Commonwealth University, USA, and Liver Foundation West Bengal on 31st July at IILDS, Sonarpur auditorium. The ceremony strengthened research and medical efforts in liver-related issues, promising a brighter future in healthcare and academic exchange.

Richard Cash delivered Prof. Dilip Mahalanabis Memorial Oration on 31st July, honoring the late professor's significant contributions to public health.

World Hepatitis Day 2023 was commemorated by Liver Foundation West Bengal and backed by the Government of West Bengal on 28th July. A rally from Victoria to Nandan saw active participation from schools and organizations, raising awareness about hepatitis and its prevention.

The 18th Foundation Day of Liver Foundation, West Bengal was celebrated on June 30, 2023, at the IILDS Hospital in Sonarpur. The highlight of the event was the captivating presentation of "Nirbiragir Lipi" by Purba Kolkata Sanchari, which mesmerized the audience with its artistic brilliance and message of empowerment.

On May 07, 2023, a celebratory event was held at the IILDS in Sonarpur to mark the 72nd birthday of John C Martin. The event was attended by a large number of guests who came to express their well wishes and gratitude to John C Martin for his contributions and accomplishments over the years.

On May 07, 2023, a blood donation camp was organized by IILDS at the Balaka Sansad o Pathagar in Sonarpur. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation and encourage people to donate blood to save lives.

Liver Foundation, West Bengal has organized “Para Lekha Utsab” for children and SHG members of Para Lekha centres at Birbhum and Purulia on 5th and 6th May, 2023 respectively. An exhibition of children and SHG didis’ art and craft work will be displayed at the venue. Afterwards children of Para Lekha will perform on the stage. A children’s drama named “ Chasme Boddur” will be staged by a reputed theatre troop.

On 22nd April 2023, a Dissemination Meeting was held for the Stepping Stone project at Hotel Kenilworth in West Bengal, India. The project was funded by Gilead under their All4Liver Grant and aimed to create a Hepatitis-free world.

The annual sports of Para Lekha was held at Arsha, Purulia with 11 centres of Para Lekhaon 5th February, 2023. 340 children participated in the sports along with 32 SHG didis. The sports was is inaugurated by Dr. Nayan Mukherjee his wife, Mrs. Laxmi Mukherjee (social worker) and three sports teacher from Purulia town along with LFWB office team were present at the sports.

Seminar on ‘Jana Shikshar Prasar: Bhabnar Dik’ dated 18th January 2023 The ASER 2022 conducted by Pratham Education Foundation assessed the performance of children aged 3 to 16 in basic reading and arithmetic tasks. The release of a book titled 'কোভিড পরবর্তী বুনিয়াদী শিক্ষার পুর্নগঠন – পরিস্থিতি ও উত্তরণের পথ' during the event aimed to provide solutions for improving education amid the pandemic.
